pottery

Today at Enrich we made bowls. First we watched a video on youtube about how to make a coil bowl. Watch the clip above to look at how to make a kind of coil bowl. Darryn showed us how to make one and then we tried to make one. It took a long time because you had to flatten it then make the base of the bowl. After that we had to roll the cla in to snake like things then stick them on. This is what it turned out like.

Passion time

Today at Enrich we did a thing called passion time. I chose doing pottery but today we just started by making clay masks. First we started by getting a board and a big piece of clay. Then we threw it down on the ground a few times to get the air bubbles out of it. After that we flattened it and pulled it off the board. We screwed up about two pieces if newspaper and put it on the board and put the clay over it. Now we had to draw the face on it. There was some spare bits of clay so I used the pieces to make the eyes, mouth, nose and eyebrows.
This is what it turned out like.
Next time we will fire it in a kiln and then it will be real pottery

Wearable arts

Last week we went to the wearable arts. The wearable arts are clothes made out of unusual materials. Some of the materials were wood, suit cases, metal, glow in the dark material and lots of other things. There were about five touch screen computers that you could watch people wearing them. It was really cool. Have a look at this picture and have a look at the site too.http://www.worldofwearableart.com/
